Gruccione Syrah IGT Toscana

THE WINE

The "Gruccione" is a wine produced with 100% Syrah grapes. The grapes for this wine are chosen by picking the most beautiful bunches in our vineyards, located on two hills at about 310 m above sea level for a total of about 4 hectares. After harvesting, the grapes destined for our "Gruccione" remain at low temperature to enhance the aromas for few days, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature for about 20 days. The wine thus obtained is placed in first and second passage French oak barriques, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and where it ages for at least 14 months. After bottling, the wine continues its refinement in the bottle for at least another 8 months.

ANNUAL PRODUCTION

Approximately 2500 bottles depending on the vintage, that can be reserved from year to year.

THE NAME

The “Gruccione” is a beautiful migratory bird that has settled on our vineyards and remains there every year from the end of April to the end of September. Our children, impressed by its unique colours have decided to call our wine with the name of this bird and have chosen a label, unique and well known today, which recalls the colours of its plumage.

TASTING

Ruby red wine, the nose shows notes of ripe fruit that are well linked to a slight spiciness and vanilla notes. In the mouth the wine enters sweet, with delicate and vibrant tannins that accompany the whole tasting. The notes of ripe fruit and spices return to which hints of licorice are added. It closes soft and persistent.
